Zonnebatterij Retrofit: 7 Slimme Checks Voor U Koopt

A zonnebatterij retrofit betekent het toevoegen van batterijopslag aan zonnepanelen die je al hebt. In veel gevallen kun je de panelen behouden. Of je de omvormer kunt behouden, vergt wat meer controle.

Het is een bekende situatie: je panelen zijn druk bezig tijdens de lunch terwijl je weg bent. Tegen de tijd dat je thuiskomt, het avondeten kookt en de televisie aanzet, koop je weer elektriciteit van het net.

Een batterij kan wat van die zonne-energie overdag opslaan voor later. Maar voordat je er een kiest, zijn hier zeven dingen die het waard zijn om te controleren.

1. Kun je een batterij toevoegen aan een bestaand zonnestroomsysteem?

Meestal wel—mits de apparatuur en installatie dit ondersteunen. Je hoeft niet per se opnieuw te beginnen.

Er zijn drie gebruikelijke routes:

Een AC-gekoppeld systeem gebruikt een aparte of ingebouwde batterijomvormer die aan de AC-zijde van je installatie is aangesloten. Dat kan ervoor zorgen dat je bestaande zonne-energieapparatuur op zijn plaats blijft. De zonne- en batterijgids van Enphase legt de aanpak uit.

Een DC-gekoppelde opstelling gebruikt meestal een compatibele hybride omvormer. Hoe dan ook, een standaard zonne-omvormer kan niet zomaar elke batterij opladen die je erop aansluit.

2. Kun je je huidige omvormer behouden?

Begin met een foto van het label. Het exacte model is belangrijker dan het merk.

Zelfs een omvormer die als “batterij-klaar” wordt beschreven, ondersteunt mogelijk alleen bepaalde batterijen. Vraag je installateur om de spanning, laadlimieten, communicatievereisten en firmware te controleren.

Voor een AC-gekoppelde upgrade moet de batterij overeenkomen met zijn batterijomvormer, en moet de hele opstelling werken met je bestaande zonnestroomsysteem.

Vraag ook of de wijzigingen invloed hebben op je huidige garantie. Een controle van vijf minuten is beter dan een dure verrassing.

3. Welke grootte batterij heb je eigenlijk nodig?

Voordat je batterijen vergelijkt, open je je zonne-energie monitoring-app. Kijk hoeveel elektriciteit je overdag exporteert en hoeveel je na zonsondergang koopt.

Nominal capacity is the headline figure. Usable capacity reflects the manufacturer’s operating limits. Inverter losses and any backup reserve further affect what reaches your appliances. Don’t deduct the same discharge allowance twice if it is already included in usable capacity.

Check different seasons, too. A sunny July afternoon won’t tell you much about a cloudy winter week.

4. Will It Run the Appliances You Care About?

Capacity and power are different things.

kWh tells you how much energy is stored. kW tells you how quickly the system can supply it.

A battery might hold enough energy for an evening but still be unable to run the oven, kettle and other large appliances together.

Give your installer a list of what you want to run. Ask about continuous output and the extra power some appliances need when starting.

5. What Does a Solar Battery Retrofit Cost Include?

The battery price is only part of the bill. Ask for an itemised quotation covering:

• Battery and usable capacity.
• Additional or replacement inverter.
• Controls, metering and electrical protection.
• Installation and any switchboard work.
• Backup equipment, if requested.
• Delivery, taxes and applicable approvals.

6. Will the Battery Work During a Power Cut?

Not automatically. Some installations store solar energy for everyday use but provide no backup.

Ordinary grid-connected solar generally shuts down during an outage to avoid feeding electricity into the disconnected grid. Backup requires a suitable system design, which may include switching equipment, a dedicated backup output and selected circuits.

Ask two questions: “Which appliances will stay on?” en “Can the solar panels recharge the battery while the grid is down?”

7. Is a Solar Battery Retrofit Worth It for Your Home?

It deserves a closer look if you export plenty of daytime solar for little payment, then buy electricity at a higher price in the evening.

If you already use most of your solar directly, there is less surplus to store.

Compare expected savings using your own electricity rates, export payments, storage losses and installed quotation. Backup may also matter to you, but treat that benefit separately from bill savings.
