The base is designed for 48V / 16S DIY enclosures built for LiFePO4 packs above 280Ah — the boxes we sell in this store: the 15kWh DIY Battery Box Kit A1, the 280Ah Stackable Battery Box Kit A2, the 320Ah Horizontal DIY Box A3, and the V3 Vertical DIY Battery Box Kit.

Enclosures from other suppliers may use a different bolt pattern. Send us the box you own and we will confirm fitment before you order.

How Much Does a Finished 16S Pack Weigh?

This is the reason the base exists. A complete 16S pack is far heavier than most builders expect:

Cell weights vary by brand — EVE LF280K is around 5.4kg per cell, and 314Ah cells are a little heavier. Either way you are handling well over 100kg once the pack is assembled, and that is not something you lift onto a shelf.

Build the pack on the base, or fit the base before you install the cells. Both work; the second is easier on your back.

Choosing Casters: Load, Floors and Brakes

Load rating. Four casters rated 75kg each carry 300kg, which leaves comfortable headroom for a 120kg pack. [Confirm your base’s caster rating.] Brakes matter more than wheels — a locking caster keeps the pack from creeping while you torque terminals. Floor type: hard floors roll easily, carpet and uneven concrete need larger diameter wheels. Cable strain: never roll the pack by pulling on DC cables; move it by the enclosure handles and re-check terminal torque afterwards. Clearance: leave room behind the pack for communication cables and any ventilation gap.

Fitting the Rolling Base: 4 Steps

1. Empty the box. Fit the base before the cells go in — a bare enclosure is around 30kg and easy to turn over.
2. Line up the mounting holes and hand-tighten the bolts first.
3. Torque in a cross pattern so the base seats evenly and does not distort the enclosure.
4. Fit the casters, lock the brakes, then build your pack. Re-check every bolt after the first move.

Does this include the battery box? No. This listing is the rolling base only — the enclosure, BMS, LCD and cells are sold separately.

Can I fit the base after building the pack? You can, but it is much harder. A finished 16S pack weighs around 118kg; fitting the base while the enclosure is empty is far safer.

Will the wheels fit a box from another brand? The bolt pattern is matched to our A1, A2, A3 and V3 enclosures. Send us your box dimensions and we will confirm.

Do the casters have brakes? [Confirm with the supplier, then state it plainly.]

How much weight can the base carry? [Confirm the rated load, then publish it — this is the question every buyer asks.]
