The base is designed for 48V \/ 16S DIY enclosures built for LiFePO4 packs above 280Ah \u2014 the boxes we sell in this store: the 15kWh DIY Battery Box Kit A1, the 280Ah Stackable Battery Box Kit A2, the 320Ah Horizontal DIY Box A3, and the V3 Vertical DIY Battery Box Kit.<\/p>

Enclosures from other suppliers may use a different bolt pattern. Send us the box you own and we will confirm fitment before you order.<\/p>

How Much Does a Finished 16S Pack Weigh?<\/h3>

This is the reason the base exists. A complete 16S pack is far heavier than most builders expect:<\/p>

Cell weights vary by brand \u2014 EVE LF280K is around 5.4kg per cell, and 314Ah cells are a little heavier. Either way you are handling well over 100kg once the pack is assembled, and that is not something you lift onto a shelf.<\/p>

Build the pack on the base, or fit the base before you install the cells. Both work; the second is easier on your back.<\/p>

Choosing Casters: Load, Floors and Brakes<\/h3>

Load rating.<\/strong> Four casters rated 75kg each carry 300kg, which leaves comfortable headroom for a 120kg pack. [Confirm your base’s caster rating.] Brakes matter more than wheels<\/strong> \u2014 a locking caster keeps the pack from creeping while you torque terminals. Floor type:<\/strong> hard floors roll easily, carpet and uneven concrete need larger diameter wheels. Cable strain:<\/strong> never roll the pack by pulling on DC cables; move it by the enclosure handles and re-check terminal torque afterwards. Clearance:<\/strong> leave room behind the pack for communication cables and any ventilation gap.<\/p>

Fitting the Rolling Base: 4 Steps<\/h3>
  1. Empty the box.<\/strong> Fit the base before the cells go in \u2014 a bare enclosure is around 30kg and easy to turn over.<\/li>
  2. Line up the mounting holes<\/strong> and hand-tighten the bolts first.<\/li>
  3. Torque in a cross pattern<\/strong> so the base seats evenly and does not distort the enclosure.<\/li>
  4. Fit the casters, lock the brakes, then build your pack.<\/strong> Re-check every bolt after the first move.<\/li><\/ol>

    Can I fit the base after building the pack?<\/strong> You can, but it is much harder. A finished 16S pack weighs around 118kg; fitting the base while the enclosure is empty is far safer.<\/p>
